The “DL”
Welcome to the home of the Development League, also known as the “DL”,
an affiliate of the Los Angeles Volleyball Academy now entering our 3rd year!
What is the Development League “DL”)?
The “DL” Volleyball Training and Development Program for Boys and Girls, an affiliate of the Los Angeles Volleyball Academy, was created with the intention of achieving a pair of simple and well-defined goals:

For more experienced junior high and high school athletes, to provide an environment where coaches may implement a structured and effective training regimen, all while recognizing the realities difficulties associated with the cost of club volleyball in a difficult economic climate. The Development League (“DL”) will be a limited local travel program, thereby cutting costs for families of DL players by as much as 75% to help keep club volleyball affordable.

For beginner and novice junior high and elementary school athletes, to create an atmosphere of fun and learning, a developmental program in the truest sense of the phrase, complete with an effective structure, strong coaching, and growth-oriented player development goals, but without the excessive cost and travel associated with advanced club volleyball.
The Development League will again operate out of West Valley Christian School in the San Fernando Valley for the 2011-12 season, directed by Sheldon Sheehy.
Volleyball Done Differently
The Los Angeles Volleyball Academy and its affiliates, including the Development League, are committed to setting a course and navigating a path with the highest ethical standard of behavior. We strive to do differently, to do better, in every single aspect of our enterprise—and will work hard to ensure our coaches, admins, players, parents, and everyone else associated with our program understands and follows our example, and subscribes to our motto of Volleyball Done Differently.
Sheldon Sheehy :: Director of the “DL”
Sheldon Sheehy takes the reins as Development League Director for the 2012 season. The current Head Girls Varsity Volleyball Coach at LA Baptist High School, Sheldon has worked and trained within the extended LAVA system for three years. He brings an exuberance, passion, and positivity to everything he does, and is the perfect person to guide the coaches and players of a program like the “DL”.
